TPN Calculator was developed and clinically validated by Sameen Abbas, PhD Clinical Pharmacist and Abeera Bhatti, Pharm-D Pharmaceutical Scientist—two clinical pharmacy experts who recognized a critical safety gap in current clinical practice. While existing TPN prescribing tools focus exclusively on nutritional mathematics, they completely ignore medication safety considerations, creating potential patient safety risks.
Our mission was simple: Create a clinician-designed tool that addresses both nutritional requirements AND medication safety. This tool was developed through rigorous clinical experience, peer-reviewed research, and comprehensive cross-validation with other healthcare professionals. The result is an evidence-based TPN calculator that reflects real-world clinical practice, not theoretical nutrition science alone.
Every calculation, recommendation, and safety consideration in TPN Calculator has been reviewed and validated by clinical pharmacists, physicians, and nutrition specialists. This collaborative development process ensures the tool serves the actual needs of practicing clinicians managing complex TPN therapies.
